Parathyroid Hormone in Pregnancy: Vitamin D and Other Determinants
نویسندگان
چکیده
We aimed to assess the parathyroid hormone (PTH) concentration in pregnant women at beginning of pregnancy (1st trimester) and within days before delivery (3rd evaluate its determinants. From September 2014 through December 2015 a cross-sectional study, 204 1st trimester 203 3rd were recruited. Blood samples collected measure PTH circulating 25-hydroxy-vitamin D (25(OH)D) concentrations. Lifestyle demographic data using questionnaire. Serum 25(OH)D inversely correlated both early late pregnancy. Our analyses suggest that pregnancy, level 18.9 ng/mL (47.3 nmol/L) could serve as an inflection point for maximal suppression PTH. Statistically significant determinants concentrations multiple regression concentrations, season, multiparity education partner (all p < 0.05) In country origin statistically 0.05). These factors their effect on appear be vastly determined by 25(OH)D; however, they might also affect other mechanisms besides 25(OH)D.

Along with many others of my generation at the Yale School of Medicine and the New Haven Hospital, I owe a great debt to Grover Powers as an inspiring teacher, friend, and benefactor. The invitation to give the Grover Powers lecture at Yale had a special emotional significance, therefore, and it is with a sense of great privilege that I address you this afternoon. I do not consider the primary ...
متن کاملThe Association between Depression and Vitamin D and Parathyroid Hormone Levels in Adolescents
Background Depression, a challenging disorder, affects 1–6% of adolescents and early onset often predicts more serious manifestations in later life. Elevated Parathyroid hormone (PTH), parathormone levels have reported among adults with depression. In this study, the roles of 25(OH) D (vitamin D) and parathormone during adolescence, in which the frequency of depression is high, were studied. Ma...
متن کاملParathyroid Hormone-Related Peptide and Vitamin D in Phosphocalcic Metabolism for Dromedary Camel
In mammals, phosphocalcic and bone metabolisms are mainly regulated by parathyroid hormone, parathyroid hormone-related peptide (PTHrP) and 1α,25-dihydroxyvitamin D or calcitriol. In camels, circulating levels of calcitriol are 10 times higher than those determined in other ruminants and further increase during early lactation. Calcitriol and parathyroid-related peptide stimulate intestinal abs...
متن کاملCalcium, parathyroid hormone, and vitamin D: major determinants of chronic pain in hemodialysis patients.
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Pain is a frequent complaint of hemodialysis (HD) patients, yet information regarding its causes and frequency is relatively scarce. The aim of this study was to evaluate the frequency and possible causes of chronic pain in patients who are on long-term HD. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS, & MEASUREMENTS We prospectively enrolled 100 patients who were undergoing mainte...
متن کاملInterrelationships of Vitamin D and Parathyroid Hormone in Calcium Homeostasis.
IN man and most mammals the concentration of calcium in the blood and body fluids remains almost constant under normal conditions, with only slight fluctuations. For the various cellular functions which are dependent on calcium, for example neuromuscular transmission, it is the ionized fraction of calcium (approximately 50 per cent of the total serum calcium level) which is important, and it is...
